One Man

"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned." Romans 5:12

"Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven." 1 Corinthians 15:45-47

It only took one man sinning to cause all the rest of human beings to be sinners. He had a choice to obey the command God, his friend and Creator gave him to not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Or he could follow Eve and do exactly what God had said not to do. I believe he loved God and wanted to obey Him, but he loved Eve more. If we take the Bible literally, and I do; then Eve didn't suffer ill effects of eating the fruit until Adam ate it. If he had just stopped and said no, all would have been well. But he chose to follow in her footsteps, to do as she had done instead of what God said. The first Adam sinned, one man, sin entered the world.

Satan is a cunning manipulator; He went to Eve first because he knew she would eat the fruit and Adam would follow her. Satan told he a half truth. He said,

"You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." Genesis 3:4-5

He was right they would not die a physical death, but they would die a spiritual death and be separated from God by a chasm of sin.

You may be thinking, God is all knowing, omniscience. So, if He knew Adam and Eve would eat of the tree why did He put it there?  Because He didn't create man to be like the angels, He wanted them to love and obey Him because they wanted to.

God did know this would happen and as a result had already planned for it by placing the Tree of Life in the garden also.  This is the reason Adam and Eve were banished from the garden and Cherubim were placed to guard the garden. So that they would not eat of that tree and live forever, if that happened, He could not have used it later to save His creation from eternal separation from Him.

That tree of life became the cross, that Jesus died on, the second Adam. One man who would save the world. He didn't come from dust he came from heaven; He came as a perfect lamb to die on the cross and make it a tree of life. It only took one man, Jesus to provide eternal security for ALL who believe.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." John 5:24

In the drawing, the cross stretches across the chasm our sins have created keeping us from God and eternal security with Him. I will say, I think the cross should be flat across the chasm but that isn't as easy to draw, so I added a door. And it is Biblical to have a door because Jesus said,

"Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture." John 10:7-9

So, there is a door through the cross, we walk through it and the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin and makes us white as snow.

"Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool." Isaiah 1:18

I hope all of this makes sense. I really try to write honestly and humble, to teach truth with love and compassion, for edifying others. I know sometimes my thoughts are jumbled and my words don't always get presented the way I mean for them to. Thanks for reading. God Bless You!
