Study

"Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed handling the word of truth correctly." 2 Timothy 2:15

Something that I have said many times about teaching and learning is that "if you aren't learning you might as well be dying." That may seem harsh, but I always told my students you should learn something new every day. If you don't do that, then life becomes boring.

It is easy to learn something new every day when you are a kid. It gets a little harder as you grow up. It can be done though. I mean you can learn something new about a friend, family member, spouse, or even a pet. You can learn something new from TV.  You can learn from reading a book, or reading things online. Learning is the door to new worlds and ideas.

I have taken this to heart and received a BA, MA, and Ed.S. I was seeking a MA in Bible Ministry, but the school stopped offering it in a way that I could afford. I am still taking ministry classes with Camp Pearl Ministries. There are ways for me to learn new things all around me. God told the Israelite people and Jesus told His followers that it was important to know the Word.

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Joshua 1:8

I want to have good success and be prosperous but God doesn't just give things to us. We can't stand still and expect God to pour out his blessings and give us the desires of our hearts. We should study, meditate, and learn things as we sit, walk, and lie down.

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes." Deuteronomy 6:4-8

In these verses today it seems God meant for use to be learners and doers of the word and not sit around waiting for the blessings to roll in.

" But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." James 1:22

I for one do not want to sit idly by when I could be learning new things that are helpful to me in this world. Do you?

Thanks for reading today. My prayers are with you. God bless you!
